We went to the crag at Achnamara at the start of May, I had agreed to check it for the next Highland Outcrops guide. I used to climb there a lot but this was my first visit this century. The rock was still clean and grippy but there was more grass on a few of the routes than there used to be, possibly due to no sheep grazing the ground above the crag.
I bolted another pillar at the red crag on Mull. The choice was either top rope it many times then solo it producing a pointless eliminate that nobody would climb, or bolt it and then others might repeat it and enjoy it.
If people are not happy with that, get in touch and I’ll point out a few bold unclimbed lines.
Had a trip to Raasay, I had never been there before, photos are here. Raasay
Next day after the rain stopped we went to a Creag Alligin.
I went to look at a ‘new’ crag in the Cuillin in November, I had seen it many times over the years from a distance but there were always longer routes to do. Forecast for Friday was good so we went, court had been cancelled so The Lawyer provided the transport, he is on an E1 below.
