Summer
After climbing the pillar at Bornesketaig it was obvious that we needed to climb the twin cracks to the right. I had cleaned and shunted them a few years ago. The route is vertical but has good resting ledges, I got a friend 4 stuck but persuaded it to come out with a hammer. The sea was at the base of the route when I finished.
A few weeks ago a local farmer told me it was the worst summer since 1985 and it’s been fairly wet since then.
The Outer Hebrides guide has gained some momentum so when I saw a reasonable forecast we had a quick trip to Barra to do more checking including Dancing Walls and Breaker Wall, old photos below.
Did a few things locally including another route on the quartz. I placed the bolts on lead, I’ll need to glue them in some time, Dot MacLean photos below.
